Q: When I drop a file onto StuffIt Expander(tm), a message appears that says "One of the files could have been expanded if you had DropStuff with Expander Enhancer." I downloaded DropStuff with Expander Enhancer but I still get the message. Why?

A: You must make sure that you have the same general version of both StuffIt Expander and DropStuff with Expander Enhancer(tm) (ie version 4.x of DropStuff and version 4.x of Expander). When you have an older version of StuffIt Expander and a newer version of DropStuff, you will receive that message because the older StuffIt Expander can't recognize the newer version of the Stuffit Engine(tm). Check to see if you have an older version of Stuffit Expander by doing the following:

1. Find the icon for StuffIt Expander (the program itself, not the alias on your desktop).
2. Click it once to select it (the icon should become dark).
3. Choose 'Get Info' from the File menu.
4. Look at the version info immediately above the comments section to determine what version you have.
5. Repeat these steps for DropStuff and compare version numbers.

If you have an older Expander, then follow the directions below.

1. Download the new version of StuffIt Expander from our Web site.

2. Move the StuffIt Expander folder onto the desktop and place the StuffIt Expander alias in it. By placing the older software aside, you still have it in case you need it to repeat step number one.
3. Restart your computer and hold down the [Shift] key until you see the message about extensions being off or disabled.
4. Install the new StuffIt Expander and try to expand the file with which you were working.
5. If everything works fine then you can delete the folder containing the old StuffIt Expander.
