Q: How can I change the look and feel of my installer? A: Every dialog, picture, and bit of text that is displayed during the installation is included in the language file. If you duplicate the "English to Localize" file in the "Creating Custom Languages" folder in your "Languages" folder to the "Languages" folder itself, and open it with Res-edit(tm), you can change just about every aspect of the the display of your installer. A good working knowledge of Res-edit and Macintosh(tm) resources is required to do this. A2: In addition to customizing the language file, you can also overwrite the resources in the language file in your included resource. So, if there is a dialog ID 128 in the language file that you want to overwrite. Include a dialog ID 128 in your included resource file. WARNING: InstallerMaker's code does expect certain dialog items to be present when the installer is executed. Failure to have the appropriate items at the appropriate DITL numbers may cause a crash or hang. As a rule of thumb, you can: Add dialog items. Change the static text in dialog items. (Even this can be risky.) Change the location items in the dialog window. Any other changes you make at your own risk.
