Why can't Aladdin post a self-extracting version of StuffIt Expander(tm)? A: Macintosh(tm) files consist of two parts: a resource fork and a data fork. If a Mac file is transmitted across the Internet without being encoded, one of the parts is lost - the resource fork. Encoding a Mac file combines the two parts in such a way as to keep them together when being transmitted across the Internet. BinHex, MacBinary, UUencode, and MIME encoding are common methods for encoding files. StuffIt Expander is widely used to decode files when they are downloaded. If you do not have a decoding utility, but you do have Netscape Navigator or Communicator, instructions on how to get StuffIt Expander can be found at our Web site: http://www.aladdinsys.com/support/faqs/mexpfaqs.html
