Q: I use CyberFinder(tm) and just installed Mac OS 8. My System now freezes whenever I try to open anything. What happened? A: Aladdin's CyberFinder v2.1.1 is currently incompatible with Mac OS 8. As you may know, this product is highly integrated in the Finder which has been significantly changed for Mac OS 8. We are evaluating the possibility of updating CyberFinder for Mac OS 8. Aladdin will continue to support the product as it currently stands for System 7. We strongly suggest that you disable the CyberFinder control panel before installing Mac OS 8. If you have already installed OS 8, you should disable the CyberFinder control panel. Restart your computer and hold down the [Shift] key until you see the message about extensions being off or disabled. Remove the CyberFinder control panel from the Control Panels folder in the System Folder. You can use an extensions manager to disable it or place it anywhere except the Control Panels folder. (The Control Panels (Disabled) folder is a good place if you have one.) When you restart your computer, it should no longer freeze. |
