Q: When trying to configure Helper Applications using CyberFinder 2.1.1(tm), if they are empty, my computer crashes when I try to add helpers. How do I get around this problem? A: The Internet Preferences file (located in your System folderin the Preferences folder) is probably damaged. Remove this file by dragging it to the Trash, restart with extensions disabled (restart while holding the [Shift] key), then reinstall the CyberFinder software. In order to generate a new default version of the Internet Preferences you will need to be sure to restart with extensions enabled after reinstalling CyberFinder. Now try to configure CyberFinder's Helpers again. If this doesn't work, then there will be a larger effort required to work around this problem. Here is a step by step process to follow: 1. Download a current copy of the Internet Config application from the address below and save it to a folder. http://www.share.com/share/peterlewis/ic/internetconfig.html 2. Drag the current Internet Preferences file to the Trash as
mentioned above, also drag the CyberFinder control panel (located
in the Contol Panels folder in the System Folder), the Internet
Config Extension (located in the Extensions folder in the System
Folder), the CyberFinder Folder, and the Internet Config folder
(if it already exists) to the Trash.
