Nestling is a limited edition bronze, approximately 12 inches in diameter and 8 inches tall. I was inspired by the wonderful experience of watching a friend's mare foal; I used the photos from the event to make my "nestling" an accurate portrait of the little filly (plus the wings, of course). The mare was originally sculpted from earth clay and the foal from wax. The piece is shown here with a gray patina, (which is created with bismuth that can produce anything from a warm charcoal to paper white). A blue-green patina works well, too.
