Trumpeting Flight

The winged horse has always been a creature that fascinates me. It combines the strength and noble carriage of the horse with the grace and freedom of flight. I always picture the winged horse when thinking about spiritual growth, personal improvement, and transcending ordinary troubles.
This particular sculpture held a couple of challenges. First, to create a feeling of suspension; being supported by air. The second was to express the neigh without the advantage of sound. My inspiration came when I created on a set of charms and sweatshirt designs for the Carousel Museum of San Francisco. They had some Densel-Muller horses on site with such marvelous facial expressions. Learn wherever and from whomever you can.
